“These came about when trying to find a new way to use my Basic Bread Recipe. It utilizes the orange filling from the Swedish Tea Ring, and substitutes cranberries for the cherries.” – April Ferre
Orange-Cranberry-Macadamia Rolls
Ingredients
- Basic White Bread or Roll Recipe
- 3 Tablespoons Butter
- 1 Tablespoon Orange Zest
- 2 Tablespoons Orange Juice
- 1 1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar
- Dried Cranberries
- Macadamia Nuts Chopped
- Powdered Sugar Glaze
Instructions
- Cream butter. Add orange zest and juice. Blend in powdered sugar until smooth.
- Prepare bread dough through its first rise. Punch down dough.
- Form squares of dough. Do not try to form typical "cinnamon" rolls, as orange filling will melt and not stay with dough.
- Spread orange filling in middle of dough. Sprinkle with dried cranberries and chopped macadamia nuts. Fold corners of dough toward middle and seal.
- Let rise on cookie sheet until doubled, then bake at 350 degrees and baste with butter once during baking.
- When cool, drizzle with powdered sugar glaze and top with more chopped macadamia nuts.
