Orange-Cranberry Macadamia Rolls

“These came about when trying to find a new way to use my Basic Bread Recipe. It utilizes the orange filling from the Swedish Tea Ring, and substitutes cranberries for the cherries.” – April Ferre

Orange-Cranberry-Macadamia Rolls

Course: Rolls, Yeast Breads

Ingredients

  • Basic White Bread or Roll Recipe
  • 3 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1 Tablespoon Orange Zest
  • 2 Tablespoons Orange Juice
  • 1 1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar
  • Dried Cranberries
  • Macadamia Nuts Chopped
  • Powdered Sugar Glaze

Instructions

  • Cream butter. Add orange zest and juice. Blend in powdered sugar until smooth.
  • Prepare bread dough through its first rise. Punch down dough.
  • Form squares of dough. Do not try to form typical "cinnamon" rolls, as orange filling will melt and not stay with dough.
  • Spread orange filling in middle of dough. Sprinkle with dried cranberries and chopped macadamia nuts. Fold corners of dough toward middle and seal.
  • Let rise on cookie sheet until doubled, then bake at 350 degrees and baste with butter once during baking.
  • When cool, drizzle with powdered sugar glaze and top with more chopped macadamia nuts.
