Red Sauce (a’la Taco Bell)

“It’s getting too expensive to eat at fast food places anymore, at least considering the quality. And while Taco Bell isn’t exactly haute cuisine, I do occasionally enjoy a taco supreme or a bean burrito. So here’s a copycat recipe of their red sauce that you can use to make bean burritos or pintos & cheese.” – April Ferre

Red Sauce (a’la Taco Bell)

Ingredients

  • 8 Ounces Tomato Sauce
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 1 Tablespoon White Vinegar
  • 2 Teaspoons Cumin
  • 2 Teaspoons Onion Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Chili Powder
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Paprika
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Sugar
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to a simmer. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Best made a day in advance to allow flavors to blend.
