So I used the last little bit of the basil from my garden, recreated and improved upon the original.” – April Ferre

Italian Sun-Dried Tomato Shmear

Ingredients

  • 8- Ounces Cream Cheese Softened
  • 2 Tablespoons Milk
  • 2 Tablespoons Sun-Dried Tomatoes in Oil Minced
  • 1 Tablespoon Fresh Basil Minced
  • 1 Tablespoon Fresh Chives Minced
  • 1 Tablespoon Dried Minced Onion
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/8 Teaspoon Pepper

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients and beat well until smooth.
  • Refrigerate overnight to rehydrate the dried onion and allow the flavors to blend.
  • Use as a shmear on bagels or an Italian-style sandwich, spread on crackers (Triscuits recommended) or use as a dip for vegetables.
