Pearl Barley Water

“I started practicing karate in 2011 and found it difficult to stay properly hydrated. I tried coconut water, but it tasted awful. I was channel surfing and came across this recipe from the Dr. Oz show during a segment on hydration. It is slightly sweet and full of nutrients that are great for an athlete.” – April Ferre

Pearl Barley Water

Ingredients

  • 12 Cups Water
  • 3/4 Cup Pearl Barley
  • 1/2 Cup Honey
  • Juice of 2 Lemons

Instructions

  • Boil water together with barley for 10 minutes. Remove from heat; strain. Add honey and lemon juice. Stir thoroughly. Chill.
