Apple & Sausage Rice Stuffing

Apple & Sausage Rice Stuffing

Course: Side Dishes – Dressings & Stuffings, Side Dishes – Rice & Beans

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1 Pound Ground Italian Sausage
  • 1 Medium Onion Diced
  • 2 Stalks Celery Diced
  • 1 Large Apple Peeled, Cored & Diced
  • 2 Cups Long-Grain White Rice Such as Jasmine, Cooked
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Sage
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Thyme
  • 1/2 Teaspon Salt Or to Taste
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Pepper Or to Taste, Optional
  • 1/4 Cup Chicken or Vegetable Broth
  • 1/4 Cup Fresh Parsley Chopped, Optional

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, heat butter over medium high heat. Add the sausage and cook until browned.
  • Add the onion, celery and apple and cook until softened.
  • Stir in rice, sage, thyme, salt and pepper. Pour in the broth and cook for approximately 3 minutes to combine flavors.
  • Remove from heat and stir in parsley, if desired.

Notes

Leftover rice may be used in this recipe. If using leftover rice, add additional broth, 1 Tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is achieved (approximately 1 to 3 tablespoons.)
