1PoundGround Italian Sausage
1Medium OnionDiced
2Stalks CeleryDiced
1Large ApplePeeled, Cored & Diced
2CupsLong-Grain White RiceSuch as Jasmine, Cooked
1/2TeaspoonSage
1/2TeaspoonThyme
1/2Teaspon SaltOr to Taste
1/4TeaspoonPepperOr to Taste, Optional
1/4CupChicken or Vegetable Broth
1/4CupFresh ParsleyChopped, Optional
Instructions
In a large skillet, heat butter over medium high heat. Add the sausage and cook until browned.
Add the onion, celery and apple and cook until softened.
Stir in rice, sage, thyme, salt and pepper. Pour in the broth and cook for approximately 3 minutes to combine flavors.
Remove from heat and stir in parsley, if desired.
Notes
Leftover rice may be used in this recipe. If using leftover rice, add additional broth, 1 Tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is achieved (approximately 1 to 3 tablespoons.)
