Tom’s Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Shortening
  • 1 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/2 Cup Sour Milk or Buttermilk
  • 1 3/4 Cup Flour
  • 1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 2 Cups Rolled Oats
  • 1 Cup Raisins Optional
  • 1/2 Cup Nuts Chopped (Optional)

Instructions

  • Mix thoroughly shortening sugar and eggs. Stir in sour milk or buttermilk. Sift together and stir in flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Stir in oats, raisins and nuts.
  • Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2-inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake until lightly browned at 400 degrees, about 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 3 1/2 dozen cookies.
