Ruth’s Orange-Cinnamon Christmas Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Flour Sifted
  • 1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 3 Teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 1/2 Cup Butter
  • 1/2 Cup Shortening
  • 1 Egg Separated
  • 1 Teaspoon Orange Rind Shredded
  • 1 12-Ounce Package Chocolate Chips
  • 1/2 Cup Nuts Chopped
  • 2/3 Cup Sugar
  • 2 Teaspoons Cinnamon

Instructions

  • Sift together flour, baking powder, sugar and cinnamon. Add butter, shortening, egg yolk, and orange rind. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
  • Shape into 1-inch balls and dip in slightly beaten egg white and roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  • Place on a greased, non-stick cookie sheet and flatten balls slightly.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes. Allow to cool slightly on cookie sheet before carefully removing to a wire rack.
