Honey-Preserved Kumquats

Ingredients

  • 1 Pound Kumquats
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Honey
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice

Instructions

  • Wash and dry kumquats. Slice kumquats in half lengthwise and remove any seeds.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine water, honey and lemon juice and bring to a boil. Add kumquats, return to a boil and then reduce heat to simmer for approximately 25 minutes or until kumquats are tender and translucent.
  • Remove from heat and let cool. Transfer the kumquats in their syrup to a mason jar and refrigerate for up to a month.
  • Can be eaten on their own as a snack or used as a topping for desserts. Use the syrup for making cocktails, as a soaking solution for baked goods, or to glaze roasted meats.
